Rajant Expands Kentucky Manufacturing Hub to Support Next Generation Defense and Aerospace Production

Rajant Corporation is moving forward with a significant expansion of its Kentucky Defense Manufacturing Innovation Hub in Morehead, Kentucky, positioning the site to play a larger role in U.S. defense and aerospace industrial capacity. The project reflects growing national demand for resilient, domestically produced autonomous systems and advanced components that can support operations in contested environments.

Expansion Scales Production Capacity for Autonomous and Aerospace Systems

Phase one of the buildout is underway within Rajant’s existing 48,000 square foot facility, where approximately 30,000 square feet are already available for production. The full expansion plan will increase the campus footprint to roughly 148,000 square feet, incorporating highly automated, AI enabled manufacturing lines designed to support defense, autonomous systems, and aerospace applications.

The facility is planned to accommodate high volume production of FPV tactical drone systems and brushless motors, along with a 2,000 square foot certified clean room intended for future aerospace and satellite assembly work. All operations will align with NDAA compliant supply chain requirements, a priority for aerospace and defense programs seeking secure, traceable component sourcing.

Rajant’s expansion aligns with broader industry efforts to strengthen domestic manufacturing resilience. The company’s Kinetic Mesh networking technology is already used across defense, industrial, and aerospace environments where uninterrupted connectivity is essential. Through its subsidiary Rajant Health Incorporated, the company is also advancing distributed edge AI capabilities that support autonomous operations.

Company leadership frames the expansion as a long term investment in U.S. sovereign capability, emphasizing the need for manufacturing capacity that is insulated from foreign supply chain constraints and able to support rapid scaling during operational surges.

Workforce Development and Regional Aerospace Talent Pipeline

The project is expected to create 85 to 100 advanced manufacturing and aerospace related jobs in Eastern Kentucky. Rajant plans to partner with the Craft Academy for Excellence in Science and Mathematics and Morehead State University to build a regional talent pipeline focused on engineering, manufacturing, and autonomous systems.

These partnerships position the facility to contribute not only to defense production but also to the broader aerospace ecosystem, particularly as demand grows for skilled labor in satellite assembly, autonomous flight systems, and edge computing technologies.
