BAE Systems has announced a major expansion of its Microelectronics Center (MEC) in Nashua, New Hampshire, leveraging funding from the CHIPS Act to accelerate production of mission-critical semiconductor technologies for the U.S. Department of Defense. The investment will modernize the 110,000-square-foot facility, enabling faster delivery, increased output, and reduced costs for advanced chips used across Air Force, Army, Navy, and Marine platforms.

It specializes in six-inch Gallium Arsenide (GaAs) and Gallium Nitride (GaN) High Electron Mobility Transistor (HEMT) wafer technologies, components essential for high-frequency, high-power applications such as radar, electronic warfare, and secure communications.

Unlike commercial fabs optimized for consumer devices, BAE’s facility develops bespoke semiconductor solutions tailored to the extreme reliability and performance demands of aerospace and defense systems.
